Tighten + Lift Non-Surgical Skin Lift
High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) is a relatively new cosmetic treatment for skin tightening that is noninvasive and painless, some consider the treatment a replacement for face lifts.
The device uses ultrasound energy that is aimed to the muscle, (SMAS) that the surgeons pull during face lift. The energy produced can be between 59-69 degrees. This will trigger an inflammatory response from the muscle that lead to cascade of events that form collagen in the process. The final result is a firm and tight skin. Since the high-frequency ultrasound beams are focused on a specific tissue site below the skin’s surface, there’s no damage to the upper layers of the skin and adjacent tissue.
The first reported use of HIFU for aesthetic use was in 2008. (Trusted Source.) HIFU was later approved by FDA in 2009 for brow lifts. The device has been used successfully and was cleared in 2014 to improve fine lines of the neck and decolletage.
From the day of treatments the results usually unfold between 2 to 6 months. The procedure is also used for tightening, rejuvenation of the face and jowls.
